NJMEP’s Made in New Jersey Group links Manufacturer to a Very Special Packaging Company
When Lisa Montalbano wanted to promote her unique packaging service to manufacturers she took NJMEP CEO, John Kennedy’s advice and joined the Made in New Jersey LinkedIn group, the social media segment of NJMEP’s Made in New Jersey Program. After Ms. Montalbano contributed to a posting on the site, Richard Bing, also a member of the Made in New Jersey group, responded. He was looking for a packaging company. That was the beginning of a very special solution to Mr. Bing’s packaging needs.
Ms. Montalbano is the Director of Business Development for Employment Horizons, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) agency providing comprehensive employment, training and job placement services to people with disabilities and other disadvantages in the greater Morris County, NJ area. Within her organization is a fulfillment center.
Richard Bing is President of Brusso Hardware, a client and member of the Made in New Jersey Program at NJMEP. The company manufactures hardware for fine boxes, cabinetry, furniture, and woodworking. Mr. Bing needed someone to package his screws that are enclosed with the hardware. He had been searching for an out of the main stream solution to his packaging needs.
Comments on the Made in New Jersey site were exchanged, Lisa followed up with a call that resulted in Mr. Bing touring Employment Horizons. “The facility was very impressive, it was really clean and people were great” said Bing. “Turnaround time was only 1½ days,” he added.
Richard Bing explained, “Employment Horizons did a good job. The pricing was excellent and Lisa and her team were very easy to do business with. We’ll keep using them. It’s a great connection between industry and the community.” Richard also made a point of noting, “That was the only time I ever posted on a website and it was truly a home run for us.”
