“New Jersey’s manufacturing community plays a critical part in our state’s economic improvement,” says John W. Kennedy, COO of NJMEP. “The Made in New Jersey breakfast on National Manufacturing Day is an excellent way to celebrate their contributions.”
National Manufacturing Day was established last year to “expand knowledge about and improve general public perception of manufacturing careers and manufacturing’s value to the U.S. economy.” As part of the celebration, manufacturers open their doors to students, parents, educators and media members, among others, to educate the public about manufacturing’s processes and careers available in the field. NJMEP’s Made in New Jersey program was developed to promote New Jersey’s manufacturers and showcase the products made in the Garden State. Members are featured on the Made in New Jersey online directory and participate in the Made in New Jersey LinkedIn Group, Facebook Page, Twitter Profile or Blog. Information about how to join the program will be available for interested manufacturers at the breakfast.
NJMEP’s services are geared towards helping state manufacturers increase sales and profit, reduce costs, improve efficiencies and spur job creation. Since 2000, NJMEP has helped manufacturers realize nearly $2.3 billion in value: $1.6 billion in increased and retained sales, $262 million in cost savings, $332 million in investments and 18,600 jobs created or retained.
