NJMEP and Firestorm Join to Help NJ Manufacturers Prepare for Crises
Morris Plains, N.J. – The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) announces its partnership with Firestorm, a leading expert in crisis management and business continuity, to help New Jersey manufacturers prepare for future crises. In addition to providing business continuity and crisis preparedness services, the partnership will run a series of complimentary webinars on disaster preparation.
“Hurricane Sandy taught us the importance of planning ahead,” says John W. Kennedy, COO of NJMEP. “When a crisis strikes, it’s critical for companies to have a strategic plan for conducting business. We are proud to partner with Firestorm to offer solutions that will help manufacturers survive in times of need.”
“Firestorm can offer solutions that are unique to the manufacturing industry in New Jersey,” adds Blair Neville, Firestorm Principal. “We’ve seen storms, power failures, floods, transportation disruptions, and fires just in the past year here in the state. Firestorm has proven expertise in handling and preparing for these kinds of crises.”
In the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy, NJMEP surveyed manufacturers in the New Jersey and found that 22% had suffered severe damage, or losing over two weeks of production. Nearly 100% of respondents had lost between one and five days of production.
The partnership is kicking off a complimentary webinar series which will introduce manufacturers on preparedness-related topics. The first webinar, entitled Common Failures in a Disaster or Crisis, will explore issues such as everyday vulnerabilities that threaten businesses, how to communicate with clients in a crisis and the importance of regularly updating a disaster plan. The webinar will be held on Tuesday, September 10th from 11:00am to 12:00pm EDT. Businesses can register for the webinar by clicking here.
Webinars will be held monthly and future scheduled topics include Business Continuity Self Assessment and Supply Chain Risk Management.
Business continuity services will also be available through NJMEP’s Pro-Action Network, a program designed to maximize the value of NJMEP’s programs to help manufacturers grow, stay informed of industry news and save on consulting fees.
