Made in New Jersey Day: Meet the Manufacturers Who Operate in Your News Organization’s Backyard
From everyday items like hanging flower baskets and kitchen cabinets to hi-tech specialty products for the aerospace and other industries, a wide variety of products are made in New Jersey. On Thursday, March 26th, , they were on display in the halls of the State House as part of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) Made in New Jersey Day. NJMEP proudly participated.
In all, 25 manufacturers put their products on display and were available to discuss their business and the issues they face as employers in New Jersey.
Legislators, reporters and members of the public were welcome to view the displays and talk with exhibitors. Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno toured the exhibits.
“Every day, New Jersey manufacturers go up against competitors from across the United States and around the globe and still come out on top,” NJBIA President Michele Siekerka said. “Made in New Jersey Day is our chance to let them tell their stories to policymakers and the public about the importance of manufacturing to New Jersey.”
New Jersey manufacturers employ more than 240,000 workers who make an average of more than $90,000 per year. Manufacturers generated $45 billion in economic output in 2013 and exported $32 billion in manufactured goods last year.
