Legislators Take Part in Manufacturing Day
As part of nationwide events marking National Manufacturing Day, State Senator Steve Oroho, Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose and Assemblyman Parker Space (all R – Sussex, Warren, Morris) toured the James Alexander Corporation’s plant in Frelinghuysen Township with the company’s Vice President Dave Robinson, Carol Gamsby, their Director of Sales, and Eric Aerts, Account Manager with the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program.
“New Jersey is still a hot bed for manufacturing, especially in the high-tech and specialized industries,” said Oroho. “We have the location and the skilled workers employers desire, and with the policy changes we have made in the last four years, we are becoming more competitive.”
The James Alexander Corporation was founded in 1976 in Warren County where they produce glass ampoule packaging and develop single-use plastic ampoule delivery system for contract packaging applications. They employ roughly 100 workers.
“Visits to job sites such as James Alexander show us first hand the innovation and creativity that are being done right here in Northwest New Jersey,” said McHose. “These are the kinds of companies we want to attract and the jobs we want created.”
The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) is a not-for-profit company that works with New Jersey’s small to mid-sized manufacturers to help them become more efficient, profitable and globally competitive. Among the work they do to support manufacturers, they sponsor the “Made in New Jersey” program and host events to mark National Manufacturing Day.
“As a member of the Assembly Labor Committee and an owner of small businesses myself, it is important to recognize the businesses and organizations that are making a difference to promote economic prosperity in New Jersey,” said Space. “Working together we can go further to improve our State.”
