Garden State’s Manufacturers Get Help Prepping for Future Disasters

When Hurricane Sandy hit, many New Jersey manufacturers suffered severe damage, in some cases losing more than two weeks of production.

To prevent that kind of pain in the future, the nonprofit New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program said it has partnered with Firestorm, a crisis management firm, to launch a series of free webinars that will help manufacturers prepare for future disaster.

“Hurricane Sandy taught us the importance of planning ahead,” said John W. Kennedy, chief operating officer of NJMEP, in a statement. “When a crisis strikes, it’s critical for companies to have a strategic plan for conducting business.”

The webinars will be held monthly. The first, on Tuesday, will focus on how to communicate with clients in a crisis and the importance of updating disaster plans on a regular basis. Future webinars will delve into business continuity and supply-chain risk management.
