Former Daily Record editor heading to Louisiana
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Gannett Louisiana has named a longtime New Jersey newsman as its vice president of news and the executive editor of the Daily Advertiser.
James Flachsenhaar’s appointment was announced on Wednesday. He now serves as director of consumer engagement for Gannett New Jersey.
Judi Terzotis, president and publisher of The Daily Advertiser and president of Gannett Louisiana, says Flachsenhaar understands the vital role of community journalism and will be critical to the news organization’s transformation.
Gannett Louisiana’s sites include The Daily Advertiser, Opelousas Daily World, Monroe News-Star, Alexandria Town Talk and the Shreveport Times.
He previously served as managing director for content and audience development for Gannett New Jersey, executive editor of The Daily Record and executive editor of the Bridgewater Courier News.
NJ Manufacturing Extension Program named champion
HANOVER: The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey has named the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program as one of its 25 Champions of Good Works.
The Champions of Good Works Awards honors New Jersey organizations committed to corporate philanthropy, according to a press release from the CIANJ, which said that entries were evaluated by their overall impact, the number of employees dedicated to service and the value of their efforts.
NJMEP is a not-for-profit that helps New Jersey’s manufacturers become more profitable. This year, the organization announced its Year of Advocacy Program, which included a pledge of $250,000 in value to NJ’s business community.
The organization will be recognized on March 11 at CIANJ’s 2nd Annual Chairman’s Reception. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack.
