APICS offers important manufacturing talk, dinner

The West Jersey Chapter of American Production and Inventory Control Society, the leading professional association for supply chain and operations management, will feature John Kennedy, the CEO of the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program on Dec. 4.

The experienced manufacturing executive will speak at APICS 5:30 p.m. professional development dinner meeting at the Parsippany Sheraton, 199 Smith Road, Parsippany.

If you have heard the oft-stated comment that “manufacturing is dead in the USA,” this notion is wrong, APICS said in a new release. Too often leaders have accepted and parroted this dire message, including politicians, school counselors and parents and even some manufacturers, the organization said.

Kennedy will speak about how change has come, but not death. “We’re Not Dead Yet” conveys the emergence of smaller, more flexible and responsive firms that employ teams of capable and adaptable people to the development of new and effective technologies and innovative techniques that reduce the time and cost to market.

Kennedy has been involved in manufacturing for more than 30 years as a business owner and as an executive in large companies. He now leads NJMEP as an association serving New Jersey manufacturers.
