‘MANUFACTURING CARES’ FOOD DRIVE NEARS GOAL OF 20K MEALS
Recent $5,000 Donation Helps Push NJMEP’s Manufacturing Cares Food Drive Toward $20,000 Goal
WHAT IS MANUFACTURING CARES?
More than 1 million New Jersey residents go hungry each year—a majority of which are children. Manufacturing Cares’ mission is to provide a simple way for New Jersey manufacturing companies to collaborate, broaden reach and impact, and further demonstrate the strength and unity of New Jersey’s robust network of manufacturing companies. Every dollar donated to the Manufacturing Cares Food Drive initiative will provide three meals for those in need.
For the past decade, NJMEP has worked with manufacturers to help provide meals for New Jersey’s food-insecure population through an effort named ‘Manufacturing Cares’. In the past nine years, the ‘Manufacturing Cares’ food drive has provided 1,748,654 meals to those in need. The 2023 goal is to exceed 2 million meals—but we need the help of the entire industry!
LARGE DONATION PUSHES INITIATIVE NEARER TO GOAL
Thanks to a recent $5,000 donation from J.G. Petrucci Company, Inc., a privately held, full-service, design/build specialist, owner, and developer of commercial, industrial, and residential properties throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania the Manufacturing Cares goal is in sight. J.G. Petrucci provides comprehensive management throughout every phase of a project’s design, build, and development. The Manufacturing Cares initiative has reached over $17,000 in donations for 2023 and is nearing its $20,000 goal by year’s end. J.G. Petrucci’s large donation will help the Community Foodbank of New Jersey provide food-insecure New Jerseyans with an additional 15,000 meals!
“Responding to the needs of the community is at the core of J.G. Petrucci’s Leadership Pledge, and we hope our contribution to the Community Foodbank of New Jersey inspires others to make a similar impact. We appreciate the leadership of NJMEP in organizing this vital initiative and are grateful for the opportunity to participate.”
Joe Petrucci, Project Executive at J.G. Petrucci Company, Inc.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
According to data from the Community Foodbank of New Jersey, in 2022 alone, they helped to provide 85 million nutritious meals to neighbors in need, which equates to 35 million pounds of produce. As mentioned previously, many of the Garden State’s food insecure population are children—of those figures, 1.2 million of those meals went toward nourishing hungry kids.
There is only $3,000 left to go before the Manufacturing Cares food drive reaches its goal for the Community Foodbank of New Jersey. We’re down to the wire and you can still help, with donations being accepted up until December 31st! Be sure to send your donations directly from our website here: Manufacturing Cares Food Drive
NEARLY 2 MILLION MEALS OVERALL
To date, Manufacturing Cares has already provided nearly 1.8 million meals to New Jersey’s food-challenged population, but this vital work mustn’t stop there. As this initiatives nears its 20223 goal of 20,000 meals, Manufacturing Cares relies on the Manufacturing community to continue progressing! Several Food and Beverage manufacturers have delivered Skid and Truckloads over the years, so please contribute, and let the NJMEP team know how you’re contributing so you can be featured on industry magazine, Manufacturing Matters, the NJMEP Blog, and partner publications!
