Ellen Pietrowicz-Phillips is a seasoned entrepreneur and business leader with a wealth of experience in both the manufacturing industry and the nonprofit sector. She served as a 55% owner of L-E-M until a partner buyout in 2014, during which she played a pivotal role in rebuilding the company after it suffered catastrophic losses from hurricanes Irene and Sandy. Not one to shy away from challenges, Ellen led the acquisition purchase of Quality Plastics Inc., further expanding her business portfolio. Under her leadership, L-E-M experienced remarkable growth, with a 51% increase in gross sales in 2022.  

Beyond her business endeavors, Ellen has been actively involved in her community, serving as a board member of Saint Mary High School in Rutherford from 2006 to 2009. During her tenure, she directed the concept and execution of the inaugural Spring Scholarship Fundraising Gala, which continues to be a success to this day, and secured alumni artist and corporate contributions for silent auctions. Ellen is a lifelong learner, having pursued studies at prestigious institutions such as The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Ramapo College of New Jersey, Caldwell University, and Parson School of Design. Her diverse educational background includes degrees in Fine/Studio Arts, Fashion Design, and Business Administration, reflecting her multifaceted approach to leadership and innovation. Ellen’s dedication to excellence, coupled with her passion for community service and creative endeavors, continues to inspire those around her on her journey to make manufacturing sexy again. 

Sal is part of Porzio’s Employment, Education Law and Real Estate Teams where he focuses on collective bargaining negotiations, real estate matters, and personal injury. Since the passage of adult-use cannabis, Sal counsels clients who are licensed applicants or interested parties on real estate matters.  Sal also serves as Vice President and General Counsel with Porzio Governmental Affairs, the lobbying subsidiary of Porzio, where he advises healthcare organizations, insurance companies, financial institutions, and trade associations on legislative and regulatory developments that could potentially impact their business.  Sal is a Registered Government Affairs Agent of the State of New Jersey

Dr. Joseph F. Stanzione, III, serves as a Professor and the Director of AMMI (Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Institute) at Rowan University. With a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware and both an M.S. and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University, Dr. Stanzione brings a wealth of expertise to his role. As an affiliated faculty member in both the Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering program and the Mechanical Engineering department, he is deeply involved in interdisciplinary research and education. Dr. Stanzione’s impactful research spans various areas, including sustainability, green construction, and sustainable materials and processes. His research expertise encompasses polymer and composites, additive manufacturing, and green chemistry and engineering. His research program focuses on utilizing lignocellulosics as a renewable chemicals feedstock, developing bio-based polymers and composites, and exploring additive manufacturing for adaptive structures and on-demand tools. Dr. Stanzione’s contributions have earned him numerous honors and awards, including the Rowan University Faculty Research Achievement Award and the U.S. EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award. He is an active member of professional organizations such as ASEE, AIChE, ACS, and SAMPE, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field of engineering. 

With nearly a decade of experience in business development and Human Resources management at South Jersey Glass and Door Co, Lauren has honed her skills in leading teams, implementing company protocols, and fostering a culture of growth and innovation. Her tenure saw the introduction of leadership training programs, onboarding processes, and performance reviews, ensuring that the workforce remained equipped and motivated. This multifaceted journey, complemented by her B.S. in Human Resources and Business from The Ohio State University, has equipped her with a unique perspective and skill set. Lauren firmly believes in the power of effective communication and community engagement, and she is committed to leveraging her experience and insights to contribute to the advancement of manufacturing resources in the state. As an advocate for workforce development and organizational excellence, she is poised to play a pivotal role in enhancing the success of initiatives like those pioneered by NJMEP. 

John is first and foremost a ‘Jersey Boy’, as he has always been proud of his home State and what it actually brings to our country…including significant Manufacturing, Engineering, Science, and R&D capabilities. As an Engineer and NJ Business Owner, John was focused on (both) Engineering & Manufacturing and enjoyed success through working with many incredible individuals. From Coleman Equipment to Sandvik to Barnett Industries to The Multitech Group…all part of my Manufacturing evolution through the Material Handling, Power Plants, and DoD workloads.

When John came to NJMEP in 2012, he found a place where he could support a critical Industry that means all the difference to our independence as a Country, while keeping New Jersey in the forefront of technology. NJMEP is his ultimate ‘fit’ as a professional. John is a  proud Eagle Scout and National Distinguished Eagle. NJ Manufacturing…it is our time again!
